New MCA exhibit occupies entire building

Denver’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) has been overtaken by 12-foot-tall trees of index cards, tar paper stretching approximately 30 feet by 40 feet and a 30-foot-long art piece made out of Mylar.

This larger-than-life exhibit is the work of American artist Tara Donovan, who has been given three floors of MCA to display her newest collection: “Fieldwork.”

Everyday items, such as Styrofoam cups and Scotch tape, are featured in massive quantities to create stunning extremes, while other humble materials, like Slinkys and rubber bands, are reimagined to open up new areas of dialogue.
