Submitting for targeted awards is a good strategy to raise the profile of your company or key executives. I judge one of the awards given by our local business journal, and important things I’ve learned include:
• Follow directions. Don’t leave anything out. And don’t add something not required or clearly unrelated.
• Use however many words you need within the allowed limit, but make them count.
• Employ good grammar and writing skills. Have someone edit your entry if necessary.
• Tell a story; think carefully about how to best illuminate the subject.
