Most people don’t think of Denver as a jazz city in the same way they think of places like New Orleans or New York. But there was a time when Denver’s Five Points neighborhood was nicknamed the “Harlem of the West” for its numerous jazz clubs.

The upcoming Five Points Jazz Festival, which takes place on May 19, celebrates the legacy of this neighborhood and the style of music that made it famous. It’s a no-cost event that features dozens of bands on 10 different stages.

Main stage performers include the Hazel Miller Band and R&B group Jakarta.
