It is a well-known fact Coloradans love the great outdoors. But how do you put a dollar figure on love?
Well, the Outdoor Industry Association did just that. At its second annual State of the Outdoors event, the Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance revealed that locals spend a whopping $2.14 billion every year on outdoor activities.
These activities include trail usage, water sports and much more. In an independent survey, the association found that 71 percent of Coloradans participate in outdoor activities. Leaders also singled out Colorado Springs, calling it one of the nation’s strongest outdoor recreation economies.
