In Iceland to see the Northern Lights? Great, but there’s so much more to do.
Explore a lava cave. I will admit to some claustrophobia so this may not be for everyone. There were some (very) tight spaces to crawl through but this uniquely Icelandic side trip was a highlight.
Walk the city. Reykjavik is a beautiful, highly walkable city and for all the noted introversion of Scandinavians, people are willing to help you find your way.
Go shopping. I’m not a shopper but I enjoyed looking at the beautiful Icelandic wool items from sweaters to dresses, mittens to hats.
