Colorado isn’t known for its castles or dragons, but a visit to Bishop’s Castle in Rye will give you a glimpse into Medieval ages with a modern twist. The ornate wrought iron catwalk may test your mettle, and the handiwork will leave you awestruck.
The private castle has been hand built, literally, stone by stone and each intricate decorative touch is a reflection of the builder’s imagination. Jim Bishop brought to life his vision including a tall tower and massive dragon, which even “breathes fire.” Take a day trip and see what new addition is in progress. Visits are free.
