3 amazing historic Southern inns with oodles of charm

Historic Southern inns

I love some history with my dose of Southern hospitality, and these three inns deliver.

The Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa; Point Clear, Alabama

Guests traveled by steamboat to this property, which opened in 1847. It hosted training operations for WWII.

The Battle House; Mobile, Alabama

After the original hotel burnt down in 1905, this one was built in 1908. For 100 years, it was the center of social life in Mobile.

Inn at Houmas House; Darrow, Louisiana

These cottages, in New Orleans plantation country, are built on a former sugar cane plantation, next to the circa-1840 Houmas House.
