The last two months have proven how thoroughly destructive a macho culture can be in the workplace.
Many of the factors that hold women back are cultural – and while not all as egregious as predator bosses – they impact women’s equality professionally. The cultural stigma around being an “ambitious woman” is one. To shatter stereotypes, we need to change mindsets and behaviors.
In this case, women must own their ambition, and we all must be mindful of stereotypical reactions. Ask yourself: “Did I just instinctively respond negatively to ambition in a woman?” Equality at work, requires work. Our motto is #EmbraceAmbition.
