Community Politics Gives Voice on Local Level

by Michael Polzella

Failing to vote for your local representatives is a sure way to dilute your voice and lose on the things that matter to you. Yet local elections frequently experience less than 25 percent voter participation.

Protected open spaces, public school curriculum and zoning regulations are all local issues. Local media no longer has the resources to cover every school board or city council meeting, so it’s up to you to educate yourself on the issues that impact your community – the lives of you, your children and your neighbors.
