Each year, hundreds of runners and walkers head to the Wheat Ridge area for the Farmers 5000. This longtime community event attracts students, families, athletes, theme-teams, teachers, runners and walkers of all ages.
Last year, an 88-year-old participant held her own among the crowd that helps raise funds to support the Wheat Ridge High School’s student programs.
This year, Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric will once again sponsor the event. The company’s midway water station has become a tradition for the participants who are personally handed their water break as they make their way along the 5K route.
