How we love to collect frequent flyer miles. Approximately 7% of flights are booked with points or miles.
WalletHub compared 11 domestic airlines using 23 metrics to find the best frequent flyer programs. The top five are Delta Air Lines, Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Virgin America and United Airlines.
Hawaiian Airlines gives the most rewards value ($21 per $100 spent), with Alaska Airlines coming in a close second ($20 per $100 spent). Delta and JetBlue are the only two major airlines whose miles don’t expire due to inactivity, and 45% will credit you up to 12 months after your flight.
