Move over dogs, it’s time for CATS’ first feline.
The cat in question is a 12-pound domestic shorthair named Xeli (pronounced Zell-ee). She is the first non-dog to join Denver International Airport’s therapy dog program, called CATS, or Canine Airport Therapy Squad. The program is designed to lessen stress and anxiety for travelers. Volunteer pet owners donate their time, along with their pets, to surprise passengers just passing through.
All CATS pets are trained therapy animals. Each wears a special “Pet Me” vest while on duty and has a collectible trading card. Now that’s the cat’s meow!
