As a high school cross country and track coach, I see how athletics and other extracurricular activities enhance the high school experience.
These activities allow students to test skills not shared in the classroom. They teach students to be organized and on time. They offer a way for students to interact with others they may not see in class. And they provide a place for students to learn to lead and function within groups.
Whether varsity or JV, upperclassman or underclassman, boy or girl, the lessons are the same and invaluable in preparing a young person for life after graduation.
