TikTok and WeChat

As of last Friday, it appeared as if the Trump administration was ready to ban China-based apps TikTok and WeChat for good due to concerns over national security. The ban was set to prohibit all future downloads and updates of the apps, eventually making them completely unusable.

However, on Sunday, President Trump verbally approved a proposed deal between TikTok, Oracle and Walmart, which would potentially make the app less of a threat. The Commerce Department has delayed the TikTok ban until Sept. 27.

As for WeChat, a judge in California has blocked the Commerce Department in banning the app for now.
