In 2014, the concept of a cat cafe was still new, and it would take the work of some trailblazers to bring this idea to life. One such trailblazer was Leila Qari, an attorney who would leave her old life behind to establish cat cafe Denver Cat Company and its non-profit arm Denver Cat Rescue.
Denver Cat Rescue works to save cats from high-kill shelters in underfunded states. They then bring these cats to Denver Cat Company for a chance to be adopted by the cafe’s customers. To date, Denver Cat Company has facilitated the adoption of over 3,000 cats.
