Damon Runyon; the man, the myth, the dinner. Author of “Guys and Dolls,” he was a talented humorist, writer and journalist and began his career in Colorado. Runyon was a member of the Denver Press Club.
The Runyon is the Club’s highest award, and will be given this year to David Simon, former Baltimore Sun crime reporter, dedicated to telling stories with meaning and depth. The Club will aslo present the “Nak” Award for outstanding police reporting to a print reporter. The Damon Runyon Award Banquet is on March 31. Much of the proceeds will fund scholarships for young journalists.
