The Colorado Department of Transportation is serious about driving safety but uses humor to grab drivers’ attention. Punny road signs like “Get your head out of your apps” or “Hey bobblehead, put down the phone” encourage drivers to keep their eyes on the road and off their devices.
CDOT began using the laugh-inducing signs in response to a spike in traffic fatalities a couple of years ago. Since then, the department has turned to pop culture for inspiration with signs that read “Who you gonna call? No one, you’re driving” or “The force is strong, don’t text and drive.”
