Colorado’s Colorful Cornicopia of Crops

by michaelpolzella

Most people don’t think much about the farms providing the fruits and vegetables they find in their local grocery stores.

Colorado provides a colorful abundance of crops. Our unique climate combined with innovative farming practices is perfect for growing sweet corn. In fact, more than 133 million pounds are produced by growers.

Dry beans are another popular crop with more than $30 million of beans produced and shipped annually. Pinto, kidney and black beans are a few grown in the area.

Apples are the leading fruit crop, but flavorful melons, peaches, grapes, berries, squash and pumpkins are also popular crops.
